"Hope of Israel" Painting FINISHED!

I just had my 16X20 oil painting of baby Jesus and Mary framed in preparation for the Springville Museum of Art's Spiritual and Religious show.  It is a juried show, so I may not make it in.  Wish me luck!

I will also be submitting another painting I did earlier this year entitled "Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd" which I hope gets in as well.

Logan Fine Art Gallery-Salon D' Atumne Show

I was recently selected for a juried art show at the Logan Fine Art Gallery!  A dream come true.  Here is a photo of me by my work at the gallery the night awards were presented.  It was thrilling to rub shoulders with the likes of Dennis Smith and Deon Duncan.

Hoped to capture the warm sunny day.  A tip from Richard helped me achieve the right color for the jeans.  Added red to make it a more purple blue.  A tip from Cherilyn to add back light on the horse's ear and to touch the cap on grandpa with yellow for more warm light was helpful...along with laying down the middle stripe on the plaid shirts...a scary step.  Didn't want to mess that up.  Had some turpinoid ready on a cute-tip just in case.  Added some blue in the leaves for shadow and depth.  Really enjoyed the process.  Need to get professional photos.  Iphone seems to wash out the details.

Sunset on the Great Salt Lake

Needed a simple landscape to do after I finished that painting of the Savior. Saw an inspiring sunset one day after driving Julia home from a play rehearsal at her school. It's a 5"X7" oil on board. Enjoy!

Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd Finished

Completed in March, 2012. I've learned a lot doing this painting. Developing my technique and style. Still have more I'd like to know. Looking at taking lessons from Anne Marie Oborn and Annie Henrie.

Piece in the Works for the Springville Museum of Art

I have a neighbor who to me embodies many of the qualities of Christ. He is gentle and kind. I asked him to pose for me for a special piece that I will submit this year to the Springville Museum of Art's Annual Religious and Spiritual Art of Utah Show. It's coming along nicely. I'm working in oil paint. I have many layers of details to go yet. It's been so fun to watch evolve! It is an 11" X 14" piece.

I painted this piece for my sister-in-law who is part Korean. She loves modern art and has a wonderful dark orange wall that I kept in mind as I designed this Rothko style painting. She LOVED it! It was so fun to paint!
