Welcome to Deb, a new student!

Today we had Cathy, Tasha, Chris, Jenny, and Deb at the studio to paint.  We had so much fun, it was like a party! Check out the wonderful things they are doing!
Enjoying some lovely music, each other's company and painting is a fun combination.
Deb prepping the Masonite boards with rubbing alcohol (to dissolve some of the chemicals in the board that would damage the painting), GAC-100 Multi-Purpose Acrylic Polymer (to put a barrier between any residual chemicals and the painting ) and gesso (to prepare the surface with "tooth" so that the paint can grab and bond to the support (board).
Jenny did some really wonderful glazing layers today on her painting. I love how it's coming along.
Cathy started this fun Rose painting that she plans on putting on her office wall.  Way to go Cathy!
Tasha is doing the foundational work of blocking in her colors. She is taking ideas from a couple of different references and creating a new look all her own! I'm excited to see how it turns out!
Chris is using three different references to create a unique one-of-a-kind painting for her husband. I predict this painting will be something the family holds very special as an heirloom one day.

While I was in Park City on family vacation I took my paints and painted a butterfly for my friend Chris, who does so much for me. Take a look!

"Belle Fleur Rose" by Sarah Richter (my cute niece)

Sarah and I decided to paint together when we were at a family gathering for the October LDS General Conference.  She began this lovely painting of a pink rose and recently finished it.  I think she did such a great job!!  And believe it or not, it's her first painting!  I love how she did such an amazing job of shading and look at the quality of her lines in the leaf!  Way to go, Sarah!

Butterfly hunt painting is finished!

I finished my painting yesterday of my children with their cousins at cascade Springs last summer. The grasses were pretty challenging to figure out how to do. I like a lot of elements of this painting but might try a few different things next time… Might make the trees fade into the sky a little bit.  Might make the vertical landscape lines more irregular for visual interest. But overall I like it.  If you see something that you could suggest to me that might make this painting better I would love to hear it.  Shoot me a comment.

This Lemon is No Lemon!

Cathy just finished a still life yesterday.  So proud of her.  Love the bold colors she picked.  The scale is large and fun (11x14).
